December 2010
Dear Friends and Family
Not only is our letter getting later and later, it’s getting
shorter and shorter. Maybe next year it
will be just a single word?
Michael is in 6th grade and doing very well. He was on the RYC sailing team over the
summer, and moved up to a much more competitive fleet. It was harder, but he did better too! Now he’s practicing for the school play “Aladdin”
as the captain of the guards. They spend
more time practicing than in classes it seems, but they’re having fun. Apparently the show looks great – but parents
aren’t allowed to sneak a peek when picking up their kids, so we’ll have to
wait for opening day!
Christopher is in 3d grade and also doing great. He swam over the summer for CHC, and now he’s
on the Scarlet swim team for the winter.
After playing soccer in the fall he’s on a winter Soccer team that plays
in an athletic bubble. He made the
All-Star Little League team and played fantastically despite the 100+ degree
temperatures on the field in July. I don’t
know why he isn’t tired all the time, but he is in good shape!
Claudine is keeping busy with school events and driving the kids
all over creation to keep up with their activities. She’s working with Seahorse Construction one
or two days a week trying to keep the piles of paper from getting higher than
the construction projects.
Steve has been working with some more local clients which keeps the travel down, but he spent a bunch of time in
Atlanta, and just got back from meetings in Berlin, Germany. He got home despite the snowy weather in
Europe that seemed to cancel every single flight. Don’t they have snow plows? He’s the Vice Division Commander of his Coast
Guard unit for 2011, so it’s back to meetings, phone calls, and paperwork.
Yes, Winston is also doing well.
He’s an old man now, but has figured out how to get most of everything
that he wants by meowing at us. I think
he considers us to be his pets. He has
taken up winter residence under the heat vent in our room 90% of the day. Come to think of it, who wouldn’t if they had
the chance?
Our New Year’s plans were cancelled when the kids got a cold, and
Steve got the Flu (the actual type-B influenza). 72 hours of quarantine and lots of Tamiflu
later, all are fine, but no trip to the Cape to enjoy the cold weather and warm
friends! We’ll have to wait until
President’s day for that.
We hope that all of you have a very Merry Christmas and a
Wonderful New Year.
