The hot dogs will hit the grills on July 4th; fireworks will light the night skies. And wow, the American people are terrific!
So many of you
sent wonderful Independence Day messages. I'm so grateful. And please know that
your kind words will be shared with other wounded warriors too.
I was severely injured in Iraq, and people ask if it was worth it... it's a
tough question. My injuries totally changed my life. But I love my country. I
love freedom.
I
wouldn't change anything I did for America. And if I could ask you to do a few
special things for the wounded on Independence Day, they'd be pretty simple.
I'd ask you to remember those who sacrificed for your freedom! Fly your flag on
July 4th, and attend a parade or other patriotic event if you can! And thank
someone who served our country!
For all the wounded, July 4th is a significant day. Patriotism is one reason.
But also, every day is "Independence Day" for those who are fighting to build
new independence after serious injuries.
So on
behalf of all my combat-injured brothers and sisters, let me thank you.
We appreciate what you do, and wish you an excellent Fourth of July.
With a Fourth of July Salute!

Jim Mylott
